vSphere Curriculum

There are a number of official vSphere courses available, designed for individuals in various job roles and wishing to gain skills in many different areas of vSphere. Some of the courses are designed to follow-on from others, as shown below.

The various courses fit into two distinct categories: foundation-level and advanced-level.

Foundation-level

The foundation level courses are designed to provide an individual with all the essential core skills required to design, deploy, administer, and support a vSphere 4 environment. Courses are provided for those who are new or relatively new to vSphere 4, in addition the What's New course is aimed at those who already have significant skills in VMware Infrastructure 3 (VI3). The content of the foundation-level courses is also applicable to those who wish to pursue their VCP4 certification.

Advanced-level

The advanced-level courses follow-on from the foundation-level courses, and give individuals the opportunity to specialise in certain key areas of vSphere 4 such as troubleshooting, performance, security, and automation. The advanced-level course all have pre-requisites of VCP4 or equivalent-level skills and knowledge. The advanced-level certifications such as VCAP4 and VCDX4 draw on the content of the various advanced-level courses.
